Franz Wagner Shines Again as Magic Beat Pistons 111-100

Franz Wagner continued his hot streak Saturday night, putting up 30 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to lead the Orlando Magic past the Detroit Pistons 111-100. The win marked Orlando’s eighth victory in its last nine games and kept the team perfect at home this season (8-0).

Wagner has now scored 30 or more in five of his last seven outings, and he nearly posted a triple-double despite sitting out the fourth quarter. With the game in hand, Orlando’s bench extended the lead to 22 points midway through the final period. Mo Wagner added 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Jonathan Isaac anchored the defense with 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Detroit, missing Cade Cunningham for the first time this season due to a hip injury, leaned on Jaden Ivey (19 points, seven rebounds) and Malik Beasley (18 points). But the Pistons struggled to take care of the ball, committing 17 turnovers that led to 29 Orlando points.

The turning point came early in the second half when Beasley tied the game at 56 with a 3-pointer. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope immediately responded with a three of his own, sparking a 20-9 Orlando run fueled by nine straight points from Franz Wagner. From there, the Magic took control.

Over the past 11 games without Paolo Banchero, Wagner has stepped up as Orlando’s lead scorer, averaging 27.7 points per game. With depth and defense carrying them, the Magic continue to look like one of the league’s toughest home teams.
