Herro’s Buzzer-Beater Lifts Heat Over Magic in 89-88 Win

Tyler Herro buried a 19-foot jumper with half a second left Thursday night to give the Miami Heat an 89-88 win over the Orlando Magic, stealing a road victory in a game Orlando seemed to control early.

The Magic jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind Jalen Suggs’ hot start, but turnovers and cold shooting doomed them down the stretch. Suggs finished with a game-high 29 points, but his long jumper at the buzzer fell short. Tristan da Silva added 18 points and six rebounds, while Goga Bitadze’s tip-in with 4.9 seconds left briefly gave Orlando the lead before Herro’s dagger.

Herro scored 20 points to lead Miami, which played its third straight game without Jimmy Butler. Alec Burks sparked the Heat in the fourth quarter with 11 of his 17 points, and rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 15. Miami overcame an early 17-point deficit and got revenge after blowing a 22-point lead against Orlando just last week.

The Heat leaned on their perimeter shooting, hitting 15 of 30 threes and six in the fourth quarter to stay alive. Orlando, on the other hand, continued its season-long struggles from deep, finishing just 5 of 29. The Magic also unraveled with 23 turnovers, including nine in the final period, which opened the door for Miami’s comeback.

For Orlando, it was a frustrating finish in the middle of a five-game homestand. For Miami, it was a gutsy win built on resilience, shooting, and Herro’s late-game heroics.
