Trae Young’s Late Surge Lifts Hawks Past Magic – 112-106

Trae Young overcame a shaky night to deliver when it mattered most, scoring 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to push the Atlanta Hawks past the Orlando Magic 112-106 on Monday night.

Young, added to the All-Star roster earlier in the day as an injury replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo, shot just 6-for-17 and turned the ball over nine times. Still, he finished with eight assists, five rebounds, and a decisive scoring burst down the stretch. With the game tied 99-99, Young rattled off seven straight points, including his only three-pointer with just over five minutes remaining, to seal Atlanta’s fourth win in five games.

Caris LeVert provided steady support with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Terance Mann added 12 points on perfect shooting, knocking down three triples. Atlanta’s depth proved crucial, as their bench outscored Orlando’s 54-25.

For the Magic, Franz Wagner led all scorers with 35 points, while Paolo Banchero poured in 31, including a career-high 20 points in the third quarter to keep Orlando within striking distance. But with Jalen Suggs sidelined for the 18th time in 19 games, the Magic once again struggled to close, dropping their 13th loss in the last 17 outings heading into the All-Star break.

A dramatic moment unfolded in the fourth quarter when Atlanta forwards Larry Nance Jr. and Vit Krejci both exited with injuries within 18 seconds. Young immediately responded with his decisive scoring run, carrying the Hawks to victory.

Next up, Atlanta visits New York on Wednesday, while Orlando hosts Charlotte.
