Osceola Defeats Maine To Head To G-League Finals

For the second time in franchise history, the Osceola Magic have earned their spot in the NBA G League finals following a win Sunday night against the Maine Celtics.

Mac McClung was the star of the show, outpacing his Eastern Conference semifinals performance, putting up 42 points on 62% shooting, including a monstrous 20-point secound quarter. Myron Gardner was a force, ending the contest with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

G-League MVP JD Davison had himself a night, scoring 34 points and racking up 11 assists, and Drew Peterson finishing 5-9 from three point range, and 9-15 as a whole.

The Magic held a lead for most of the game, the Celtics took a one-point lead with a little over 7 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter; McClung and the rest of the Magic didn’t let that stand for long. A McClung floater started a run that wouldn’t end until the final whistle, with the Magic not relinquishing the lead again. Head Coach Dylan Murphy was quoted as saying on the energy in the building during the second half: “The energy was just so big in the building. It was unbelievable for us, and it really pushed us.”

Game 1 of the Finals against the Stockton Kings will take place at Osceola Heritage Park on Tuesday, April 8th.
