Phantom gets first win in Unrivaled

Forwards Satou Sabally and Brittany Griner combined for 58 points, overshadowing the Mist on Friday in a 74-69 victory, marking the Phantom’s first Unrivaled win.

Satou Sabally set the tone early, hitting her first five threes. But after some foul trouble, the current WNBA teammates, guard Natasha Cloud and forward Brittany Griner, ran a seemingly unstoppable two-player game that resulted in BG getting to her spot on the right block in what felt like an automatic bucket.

The Mist are the first 0-3 team in the Unrivaled inaugural season. Guards Jewell Loyd and DiJonai Carrington didn’t play for the Mist, and Breanna Stewart didn’t falter under the pressure.

Stewart led the team in points, rebounds, and steals while scoring 10 of the final 12 points for the Mist in what was almost an 11-point comeback.

Last week, the Mist was the lowest-scoring team, and the offense remained clunky. Shooting just 22% from three and having a 1.2/1 assist-to-turnover ratio, the Mist will have much to clean up in a quick turnaround against Rose on Saturday.
